1:1 Individual counseling

I utilise a trauma informed, client-centred approach and see each person who I work with as the expert in their own life: with their own wisdom, strengths, resilience and knowledge about what it is that they need.

I work with young people and adults of all ages, genders and backgrounds, promoting dignity and inclusion, with a decolonising approach to my practice.

I am certified in the delivery of:

  • Art Therapy modality processes

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approaches

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy

  • Breath work approaches including Diaphragmatic Breathing

  • Mindfulness techniques

  • Play Therapy - using Therapeutic Dolls for Trauma Responsive Practice with Children

I work people who would like to:

  • Learn skills for managing their mental health

  • Find ways to express themselves and to communicate more effectively

  • Feel seen and heard

  • Feel supported in navigating life transitions

  • Experience a collaborative approach to healing

  • Develop strategies for coping with challenges

I deliver individual sessions in person in the studio, or via Telehealth.

Groups and events

Groups provide an environment in which growth, connection to self and to others and development of confidence in self-expression is supported. Healing is often accelerated in a group work environment as the group provides a container for safety and self-realisation.

I facilitate groups with a focus on creativity and fun, with a focus on supporting wellbeing while we dive into deep self-exploration.

Programs I am certified to deliver:

  • PEERS - an evidence-based social skills program developed by UCLA for young people

  • The Stormbirds disaster recovery program, and the Seasons for Growth programs for supporting people around change, grief and loss - developed by the MacKillop Institute

  • Dancing Freedom - a conscious dance modality supporting self-expression, connection to oneself and emotional healing

I enjoy creating group programs for retreats, workshops and community events. Group programs I have created and delivered so far, include:

  • “Art for Wellbeing” art and discussion groups.

  • Teen programs for development self-confidence and self-esteem including a program incorporating art and a safe space for discussion for teen girls.

  • A Disaster Recovery Program involving art and story-telling for healing, for community members and survivors of the summer of 2019-2020 bushfires

  • Regular community conscious dance events

  • A project to create a Zine with First Nations youths at risk of dropping out of school

What happens in an individual counselling session?

We begin by deciding how we might work together based on what is happening in your life and your goals.

We collaborate at each step along the way: I will always suggest paths we can pursue in our work together and you always have a choice when you work with me, around which processes and strategies you feel will benefit you most.

I’ll incorporate evidence-based, focussed psychological strategies into the talk-therapy component of our work, and I’ll provide an opportunity to weave in some creative art therapy modality processes if they sound like they are a good fit for you.

Everything we speak about within a therapy session is strictly confidential - unless I’m concerned about your safety, and then I will flag that with you and we’ll get extra help, together.
